Four go wild in Dublin

Last week I got a call from my little sister Martha. She’d won a competition with ‘KOH Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge,’ Dublin and the prize was a cocktail masterclass, champagne dinner for four, tickets to Beyonce in concert at the O2 plus limo transfers. Yes, really!

This blog post is the story of how that fantastic prize played out for four sisters in Dublin on March 9th 2014…

Brenda to the strictly ‘house’ playing dj…

‘How about Pharrell Williams, Happy? Deelite’s Groove is in the Heart? You could at least play Beyonce for the night that’s in it?….No? Ok, how about Dolly Parton?’

Good sign of a night that ends up in Molly Malone’s basket.

‘In Dublin’s fair city, where the girls are so pretty…’

  • We stayed in ‘The Arlington Hotel,’ Dublin 1, right on O’Connell Bridge i.e. heart of the city. Rooms cost just €30 per person per night. It’s noisy but if you can get around that the rooms are clean and cosy, price and location unbeatable and staff uber helpful and friendly, what’s not to like! Click HERE
  • For great food, cocktails, value and service at a central location visit ‘Koh Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge, click HERE Btw the cocktail masterclass was much more fun than I thought it would be plus I have a new found love as a result, Flirtini’s, sigh…

Finally for now…

  • I have 3 copies of one of my favourite books ‘Wild Irish Women’ by Marian Broderick to give away. For a chance to win like and share the fb page for this blog on your personal or business page and leave a comment to let me know. If your’re not on fb leave a comment here. • 5 Ways to Make Your Sunday Special June 28, 2015
      1. Have a Family Coffee Morning This is basically a way for parents of small children to buy time in bed that would otherwise never happen. It’s most likely too early to even think about breakfast yet so we’re talking everyone in our bed, a tray with the essential coffee for us, drinks and snacks […]

    • ‘The Artist’s Way’ – Book Review June 24, 2015
I’m about a third of the way through reading a book I’ve been meaning to read a few years now, ‘The Artist’s Way’ A Course in Discovering and Recovering your Creative Soul, by Julia Cameron. My thoughts on this can be summed up in three words, ‘buy it immediately,’ or in many, as follows… This […]

    • Soundtrack To My Morning June 23, 2015
With small children and busy modern life it can be hard to find moments of quiet and with school holidays starting this week I thought I should capture a moment. So I sat here for an hour with tea and delphiniums, alliums, books, notebooks and roses, just listening. To share in this moment of mindfulness […]

Hello dear friends, ‘who all’s there?’ (a very Irish question) Thank you so much everyone who de-lurked and brightened my yesterday. As promised I will get back to you over the weekend. This is just a quick post in the pulse of the moment. A better day, the med’s may be helping. So every Friday […]

    • Easy Onion Soup & Annual De-Lurking Day… June 18, 2015
Dear friends. Seeing as how I’m under the weather and all I thought this would be the perfect time to declare a blog de-lurking day. Surely you wouldn’t deny me? In short if you read this blog and in particular if you seldom/never comment then I’m asking you to come out of the bushes and […]

    • Pneumonia June 17, 2015
Seems I have pneumonia. Not confirmed but my doctor says he’s pretty certain. I’ve been in the wars for a while and let it go on too long. I just didn’t take it seriously until I had to. So a long running cold turned into a chest infection, compounded by the return of my middle […]

    • Read A New Excerpt from My Novel June 3, 2015
It’s been nine months since I shared the first chapter of my novel here on the blog and I can still remember the sickening terror of setting it free. Since then I’ve made myself sick many more times. I applied for a bursary from the Irish Arts Council, didn’t get it but worse, some anonymous […]

    • A Catch Up June 2, 2015
Thinking on May now that it’s June…It flew. It was cold, dark, windy, stormy…and wet. I rarely notice bad weather until the weather goes good and has such a positive physical and mental effect on me I think ah so that’s what was wrong all this time, in the grey soup. So I won’t notice the weather was […]
