Four go wild in Dublin

Last week I got a call from my little sister Martha. She’d won a competition with ‘KOH Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge,’ Dublin and the prize was a cocktail masterclass, champagne dinner for four, tickets to Beyonce in concert at the O2 plus limo transfers. Yes, really!

This blog post is the story of how that fantastic prize played out for four sisters in Dublin on March 9th 2014…

Brenda to the strictly ‘house’ playing dj…

‘How about Pharrell Williams, Happy? Deelite’s Groove is in the Heart? You could at least play Beyonce for the night that’s in it?….No? Ok, how about Dolly Parton?’

Good sign of a night that ends up in Molly Malone’s basket.

‘In Dublin’s fair city, where the girls are so pretty…’

  • We stayed in ‘The Arlington Hotel,’ Dublin 1, right on O’Connell Bridge i.e. heart of the city. Rooms cost just €30 per person per night. It’s noisy but if you can get around that the rooms are clean and cosy, price and location unbeatable and staff uber helpful and friendly, what’s not to like! Click HERE
  • For great food, cocktails, value and service at a central location visit ‘Koh Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge, click HERE Btw the cocktail masterclass was much more fun than I thought it would be plus I have a new found love as a result, Flirtini’s, sigh…

Finally for now…

  • I have 3 copies of one of my favourite books ‘Wild Irish Women’ by Marian Broderick to give away. For a chance to win like and share the fb page for this blog on your personal or business page and leave a comment to let me know. If your’re not on fb leave a comment here. • Things I Learned Saturday August 26, 2014
On Saturday I was in Dublin for my sister Martha’s 30th Birthday celebrations. Aside from great company, lots of laughs, food, music and dancing at The Clarendon and Odessa here’s a few random things happened, discovered or learned… 1. I can’t go out anymore, it takes days to recover, days, such a time waste. I […]

Hello guys, how is everyone doing? I have great news, an update on my catch up post a few weeks back, I’m driving! For real, like a real person! After I wrote that post I set myself a deadline, drive on my own, just into my mothers in town, by the end of the week. […]

I have a passion for food and I’m lucky, we’ve always had a great relationship. I use it to to care for and nourish, to spoil and make well, to show love and friendship, to make sigh and satisfy, to make every day special. Food has given me so much, even a way to be […]

    • Anyone for a ‘Salon’ Gathering ? August 4, 2014
I really badly want to go to a ‘salon’, unusual thought for a Monday perhaps but I’ve been thinking about it a few years now. I realise I may have to host though I’d much rather attend. Since first I read the book ‘Wild Irish Women’ by Marian Broderick, this tantalising passage about Lady Jane […]

    • Openness August 1, 2014
Hello and welcome August 1st, the Gaelic Harvest Festival of Lughnasa. I’ve been meaning for some time to share a few thoughts on openness, the opposite of secrecy, a release of ego, honesty, acceptance of experience. It’s always been my nature to be open and I’ve always been that way with those close to me […]

    • What do you want to do? July 31, 2014
Good morning dear friends. It’s the 31st of July and there’s already a change, have you felt it? The nights are drawing in, the flowers have gone to sleep, even the air is different, autumn. These past few days have been dark and grey so I decided to rejig our sitting room because, well, that’s […]

    • What would you say to your younger self? July 30, 2014
I keep seeing this question everywhere so I thought I’d give it a go and scribbled down a few pointers last night. I imagined myself about six, one year into school life. The world will adapt. Your’re right, being older will be better for you. There’s nothing wrong with being sensitive. Something like 15 to […]

    • This is War (a food post) July 29, 2014
I haven’t talked about food in a while but it’s never far from my mind. I’ve talked in the past about my research into nutrition for parkinson’s and cancer treatment and prevention (my Dad had cancer/has parkinson’s) and how we’ve adapted our shopping and eating habits, within means and reason. The challenge of feeding anyone, […]

    • A Little Rain Never Hurt Anyone July 22, 2014
There’s the great lesson when your’re Irish that you can’t wait for good weather. It’s possible the sun will shine and you hope it will, but you don’t wait, you live as if the sun were shining. This is why you will see Irish people sitting outside in storms, at the beach in the rain, […]
