Four go wild in Dublin

Last week I got a call from my little sister Martha. She’d won a competition with ‘KOH Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge,’ Dublin and the prize was a cocktail masterclass, champagne dinner for four, tickets to Beyonce in concert at the O2 plus limo transfers. Yes, really!

This blog post is the story of how that fantastic prize played out for four sisters in Dublin on March 9th 2014…

Martha, ‘Hold on a minute, I’m going to take off my shoes, put my runners on and dance the **** out of this place.”

Brenda to the strictly ‘house’ playing dj…

‘How about Pharrell Williams, Happy? Deelite’s Groove is in the Heart? You could at least play Beyonce for the night that’s in it?….No? Ok, how about Dolly Parton?’

Good sign of a night that ends up in Molly Malone’s basket.

‘In Dublin’s fair city, where the girls are so pretty…’

Meanwhile from Leitrim…our brother Colm text us this message…

  • We stayed in ‘The Arlington Hotel,’ Dublin 1, right on O’Connell Bridge i.e. heart of the city. Rooms cost just €30 per person per night. It’s noisy but if you can get around that the rooms are clean and cosy, price and location unbeatable and staff uber helpful and friendly, what’s not to like! Click HERE
  • For great food, cocktails, value and service at a central location visit ‘Koh Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge, click HERE Btw the cocktail masterclass was much more fun than I thought it would be plus I have a new found love as a result, Flirtini’s, sigh…

Finally for now…

  • I have 3 copies of one of my favourite books ‘Wild Irish Women’ by Marian Broderick to give away. For a chance to win like and share the fb page for this blog on your personal or business page and leave a comment to let me know. If your’re not on fb leave a comment here. • A Little Rain Never Hurt Anyone July 22, 2014
There’s the great lesson when your’re Irish that you can’t wait for good weather. It’s possible the sun will shine and you hope it will, but you don’t wait, you live as if the sun were shining. This is why you will see Irish people sitting outside in storms, at the beach in the rain, […]

    • The Land of Hearts Desire July 18, 2014
What is your land of hearts desire? Mine is a blend of freedom and hiding. Driving’s going well but I’m not there yet. I’m still tied to my house, I have cabin fever but then I don’t want to go anywhere or do I? I don’t like social occasions but my favourite feeling’s always been […]

    • Lunch in Verse July 17, 2014
Cheese, Tomatoes and Leaves. I just had a lunch so good I’m in heaven. All my troubles have melted away i.e. I have a work deadline today. No ordinary tomatoes and leaves, but our own, from the greenhouse and garden. Buttery baby spinach, crisp basil and peppery rocket and tomatoes so perfect, warm, juicy, not […]

    • First Chapter of my Novel – Reader Feedback July 15, 2014
As you know I’m editing my first novel at the moment, a contemporary mythic fantasy. Even though it’s daunting I have to say I’m enjoying it. I’ve switched my head from writer, not allowed edit, to editor and of course reader. After some time dithering over process, googling second drafts and what not, I decided […]

Hello out there I hope your’re well this rainy Monday? I’m having one of those days when you want to just curl up somewhere and think. I’m not sure about what but give me a notebook and pen and a corner by an open window just to listen to the wind and rain. In fact […]

    • How We Spend our Days is How We Spend Our Lives July 4, 2014
I tripped over these words by Annie Dillard on the ever brilliant ‘Brain Pickings‘ site, immediately struck I often say them to myself… ‘How we spend our days is how we spend our lives.’ I’ve always appreciated little things and nothing’s ever lost on me but I had way to much of a future focus. The June Art Challenge is DONE! What a ride! Here’s my last week of offerings plus final thoughts… Thought the first… Having to do a painting/drawing every day in June meant other things fell by the wayside however I have to add that on any given day things fall by the wayside and I don’t […]

Good morning all. I can hardly believe the final week of the June Art Challenge is underway! It has been a most rewarding, illuminating experience and next week I’ll write more of my thoughts on it all. Today I’m sharing my art efforts of the last week but first I want to share a message […]

Chanel and I agree… ‘The best things in life are free; the second best things are very expensive.’  We’re just back from the Body & Soul Festival at Ballinlough Castle, Co Westmeath. Three days camping. Some people were surprised to hear I like festivals, or camping but I refer you back to the quote. Also, […]

    • June Art Challenge – Week 2 June 15, 2014
Good morning and happy Fathers Day to all the brilliant Dads out there. We’ll be celebrating later with dinner and a poetry evening in which we (let’s call us the young people) will need to refer to books or the computer while my mum and dad casually recite at the drop at the drop of […]
