The Domino Effect – What Jane Did Next

How’s this for a domino effect… Up until five years ago I hadn’t written creatively since school days, and I had never painted.
I would buy art supplies and never use them.
I would try to write something and know it was awful.
What changed?
I got brave for a minute. Long enough to take action.
One brave move leads to another. There are other factors of course, I explore those in my creativity book, but that’s a big takeaway one.
In 2012 I started my blog and within a year started writing my novel. That in turn gave me enough courage to take part in a month long art challenge (Dominos)

I knew nothing about materials or techniques. I bought a few supplies in Lidl and threw myself in there big time. Painting and posting to fb, every day for 30 days.
It was a scary then exhilarating, mind altering, life changing experience, as much as writing the novel had been.

Since then I’ve been laser focused on rewrites for the novel, currently out on submission, and on the creativity book, due out later this year. I’ve only been dabbling in paint. One day I’ll give it more time I said. Now, much sooner than expected, the day is here.

Events have conspired in the most surprising unexpected way. Led me to Tracy Verdugo and her forthcoming online course Face Fascination. Folks I can hardly believe I’m saying this but I’m all signed up and can’t wait to get started.  I ask my coaching clients what are you reaching for? And I like to ask myself the same question. It’s that when I come to the end of my life I’ll have used every ounce of talent or ability I had, that I left no stone unturned, and no path unexplored. That I have nothing left.

There isn’t a fear big enough to sway me from that.

What are you reaching for?

xo Jane
